Present Day Dystopia
02:32
|
|||
Excuse me, do you mind if we trouble you?
His surname starts with a W.
I'm walking these streets every night
Pounding pavements to ease my mind.
See they've got us in lockdown
All over the planet
Stay inside it's the only hope for ya.
It's a present day dystopia
The future - it just came quick
Out of nowhere like a sci fi trick
Dystopia - a rich vein of fiction
From movies, books, doomsday predictions.
But I didn't think the world was supposed to end yet
Do I need to get my head checked?
But here's the truth it's always been this bad
For the millions living between the cracks
If you ain't worked it out then here's the dope for ya
It's a present day dystopia
No capacity. Zero hours.
There's no contingency in a gig economy.
Mass inequality. It's a late stage sleight of hand.
Normalising gross insanity.
For this present day dystopia

No Credentials
02:50
|
|||
I've got no credentials and no CV
I know everybody can see through me
No idea what I'm doing or why I'm here
It's a heavy situation kinda like Blue Cheer
Potential?! Wouldn't that be nice
But no-one's ever gonna name me twice
Don't take my time. I'm always hasty
So I get stretched thin like filo pastry
Well I’m waiting for the tap on the shoulder the hook
Waiting for the book to be thrown at me.
Impostor! That's what they scream.
It echoes every night in every single dream
And like the steam from a kettle
The crumbs from a cake
Or turning your back on William Blake
I'm missing the point. I'm doing the opposite.
My company's bust, but at least I am the boss of it.
No credentials
ISB! ISB feels right to me
No potential
D&I! D&I until I die
I can't put this down. I don't know what I'm doing.
Got hooked before I heard Road To Ruin
But I'm a nice boy with no life experience
I forged a career out of being resilient
Had shit thrown at me by a Brixton crusty
Flew to Munich one time and got busted
But they got the wrong man, "Officer I'm innocent"
Like the smoothie I'm free of stimulants.
Our drummer, hell he has no fear
Smoked Mexican Tar with Poison Idea.
I jammed with Fugazi; embarrassed myself
You can't keep up boy, get back on the shelf.

Isolate The Infection
03:18
|
|||
This is coming at you from a time when the shelves are empty
There's uncertainty and FEAR in the land of plenty
People hiding out, washing hands, making plans,
Buying ammunition
That ain't my human condition
We're just 2 MCs and no DJ
Hell, none of our friends are coming out to play
So isolate yourselves, yeah do what's right
At the same time keep the channels open.
Communicate, organise and educate yourselves
So you can isolate the infection
That took hold long before we ever knew it was here
Masquerading as the way it should be.
There are millions out there without a safety net
When the tail wags the dog watch the liars run free.
Come on and educate yourselves in the ways of resistance
Educate yourselves in the ways of the world
Strive to be a great communicator
Then spread the message cos it's gotta get heard.
Educate yourselves how to build a community
That's loving, inclusive and diverse
Study every single dirty trick they've ever used on us
And don't kid yourself that it won't get worse.
